I wanted to take a look at what Iowa companies were using social media. So I took the sage advice I once received from a digital czar – I Googled it. No luck, at least not on the first page and I tend to be impatient. So, here is a “list in progress” if you will, of Iowa companies using social media.
This is not a comprehensive list but its what I could find. If your company is not featured here, send me an email about what you are doing and I will get it listed. If your company is doing more than what I have listed here, I’d like to hear about that as well.

GenerationIowa.com also has a MySpace page. Iowa Wine and Beer has a Twitter presence. The Rebuild Iowa office has a Facebook page. Character Counts has a Twitter presence. The United Way of Central Iowa is on Facebook and Twitter. I’m sure there are dozens more. Word.
My friend works for QCI. They have a Web site and a facebook page.
Thanks for including us in your list. Just FYI we were early twitter adopters as well and are very active. We also operate a couple of different accounts on twitter. @authenticmusic and @NadaAlmanac. I would be happy to share with you a login for our Almanac Project, which ties all of these things together nicely. Let me know if you want to see more. We are also active on youtube, and flickr. We are experimenting with pindropr. We are also very excited about the following we are building on ustream. Hang on, it’s a crazy ride.

What about state agencies? I am the webmaster for the Iowa Dept of Education, and w are on twitter, youtube, and facebook.
The HON Company is active in Social Media as well. For now we are using Twitter (http://twitter.com/honcompany) and down the road we hope to be active on Facebook. Please add us to your list. Thanks!
