Lessing-Flynn Creative on Exhibit at Heritage Gallery

by Jess Held on March 18, 2009

AAF100Poster.FINALOn March 5, the AAF (American Advertising Federation – Des Moines) held their 100th Anniversary Celebration at the Polk County Heritage Gallery in downtown Des Moines.

One of the highlights was  an exhibit of one-of-a-kind advertising posters celebrating AAF’s 100 years in Des Moines. After the gala, this special exhibit opened to the public, and continues at the Heritage Gallery through April 1. As one of the leading advertising organizations in Des Moines, Lessing-Flynn was invited to create one of the posters for this special exhibit. While the poster is not intended to be self serving, we were asked that our design reflect our viewpoint of what advertising has meant to the Des Moines market during the past 100 years.

Art Director, Chris Hanson designed the above poster for the exhibit on behalf of Lessing-Flynn.  Hanson said, “I really wanted this poster to be different.  The timeline is a visual metaphor to represent the advertising journey over the past 100 years.  It’s been a long, exploratory journey and remains such today”.  Hanson researched all of the dates of these notable industry introductions and the textured background is comprised of thousands of marketing terms & buzzwords. Great work Chris!  Thank you AAF for asking us to take part in the celebration and congratulations on 100 years!
