Burger King seems to be trying to separate themselves from their competitors by becoming the “bad boy” of the fast food burger industry. The latest is this spot promoting their kids’ meal featuring a Sponge Bob Square Pants toy.
Burger King claims they were only targeting these ads to adults, presumably adults with kids who are fans of a famous preschool cartoon character.
Now I’m not a prude, but a group of women shaking and gyrating to a rap song with phone book-sized boxes attached to their back sides isn’t going to convince me to take my kids to Burger King. It doesn’t make me hungry for a greasy burger myself either. And last I knew, the 4 – 10 year-old crowd can’t drive themselves there!
Here’s a novel idea. Why not either offer better food that people want to eat, or just go back to the days when fast food restaurants just blatantly targeted the kids and made them beg for the cheap toys in their kids’ meals. At least that way, we wouldn’t all have to be exposed to degrading, booty-shaking burger whores and their king pimp!
Congrats Burger King, you are our Worst of the Week!

Dude! That is so wrong. That commercial rocks. Me and my kids (teenagers) love it. What is so wrong with a little square-ass rap? Get with it, Tom :~)
Thanks Claire! BK fan, huh? Hope you and the kids enjoyed the SpongeBob toys and Whoppers as much as you did the spot!
Please…..can someone help Burger King…..or should I just retire to the fact that I am out of it?
This isn’t the first Burger King ad I have been turned off with…..several months ago they were killing the King off. Killing isn’t anything to advertise about. Really?
The King is the creepiest spokesperson I have ever seen. He is the thing that nightmare are made of. Of course has no effect on my buying habits as I don’t eat that crap anyway. Death in a bag. But c’mon-they can’t come up with something less nightmarish than The King? They’d be better off using Charles Manson-he’s less scary!
