Chevy Volt Does It Again

by Josh Fleming on December 15, 2009

I’ve never seen a company earn our Worst of the Week and then do something even more deserving of the honor within the same seven day period. The term “I just threw up in my mouth a little bit” has never been as appropriate as it was watching this fiasco.

Big props to Sara Judson Brown for pointing this out to us on Twitter!

Maybe if it was a song by Basement Jaxx that would work, but choreography and break dancing to the nerdiest song on the planet? Is the volt made by Microsoft or Chevy, I can’t tell…

When I first saw the dance routine, I thought it was an SNL skit. Sadly…it was not. My fav part is the half-hearted ‘woots’ from the live audience. Thanks for the props! :-)

I know that I got my marketing degree from Simpson College, and I’m not an expert, but I’m very confused… A folk song with cheerleader style dancing, and one break dancer??? cognitive dissonance Did they take their 5 worst campaign ideas and mash them together? Is the Oil Cartel behind this to ensure we continue to drive gas hogs? My head hurts.

Oh my. Whoever is in charge of this at Chevy should be fired. But I hate Chevy so I am biased.

To quote Liz Lemon: “What the what?”

I like intrepretive dance as much as the next person, but to promote a car? That’s odd.

Actually, it reminds me of the Spartan Cheerleaders skit from “SNL”, which is not a good thing. I associate it with Cheri Oteri and Will Ferrell annoying me to no end. I also hate the Gap holiday ads for this reason.
