Take Your Marketing to the Streets

by bellana on January 12, 2010

I wanted to share a developing story about my client Vermeer. Last year they asked for some ideas to help market a baler. So, as usual we put together a list of tactics to really make a mark in a tight geography.  We decided to pursue something new for their product marketing. And since it was well-liked, we’re doing it again with another baler.

Instead of putting traditional decals on the baler, the doors and back side of the baler have been blanketed with images to tell a story. They now have their own mobile billboard that will be seen by thousands as it travels down the interstate to trade shows, demonstrations and other events. We anticipate multiple benefits from this graphic wrap. Not only the visibility on the highway and at the show, but the conversations this will ignite. It will entice consumers to ask why and what? “What kind of crop is that picture of on that Vermeer baler?”

While we’re on the subject of advertising on the streets, a dealer recently inquired about truck advertising. Ever noticed an Admobile truck? You can purchase a truck or rent ad space to tell your brand message on the streets. After checking sparktrucks.com for $46,000 you can own an ’08 Ford E350 gas chassis, with 5′ x 10′ scrolling poster system on sides, walk ramp, and roll up rear door. Perhaps if you’re a delivery service in a major metropolitan market you should buy one of these for an additional new revenue stream.

While AdMavericks are cheerleaders for social media, we still credit and use traditional ol’ marketing tactics to share your brand story. And if you want to see the super cool Vermeer baler, it will be leaving Iowa this week on a step-deck trailer to end up in Orlando, Florida for the first ever AG CONNECT Expo managed by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers. Check it out at the show and we’d love to see your comments.
